The beauty of being an indie author is that you get to revisit your manuscript. Over the summer, I had a little more free time, so I decided to dig deeper into my debut novel, Open Fire: The Flames of Betrayal.
The book reached the Amazon No. 1 New Release spot in the Love Triangle category, a milestone that was incredibly exciting for me as a new author. But even with that achievement, I found myself wanting to return to Declan’s side of the story.
There was more I wanted to show, another layer to his character I wanted to uncover, and something I wanted readers to see. So, I went back in.
You see, there’s more to Declan than meets the eye.
When we write a character, we get to know so many sides of him. We see his choices, his flaws, his strengths, and the way he presents himself to the world. But sometimes, there are quieter parts of a character that deserve a little more time on the page. That’s what I wanted to explore with Declan.
In the newly re-released edition of Open Fire: The Flames of Betrayal, I’ve added bonus scenes that take a deeper dive into his character through a special relationship that opens readers’ eyes to a softer side of him. These scenes offer a little more insight into who Declan is beyond our first impressions—and why he shows up at the bar that night he first meets Cora.
If you’ve already read Open Fire: The Flames of Betrayal, the newly re-released edition offers something extra to discover. And if you’re meeting Declan for the first time, you now have even more of his story to uncover.
I won’t give away too much about the special relationship featured in these scenes. I want readers to experience those moments for themselves and discover what they reveal about Declan.
The newly re-released Open Fire: The Flames of Betrayal proudly features the gold No. 1 New Release seal on its cover. The updated edition also includes bonus scenes that take readers deeper into Declan’s world, revealing a softer side of him they may not have seen before.
